Vande Matharam and Islam

TwitThis

As usual after lunch I go to my afternoon prayers to a nearby mosque. But yesterday I was bit late in having my lunch and hence was late for the afternoon prayers. I reached the mosque only to see that the gates were locked. I was wondering where to go for the prayers. Then suddenly my mind said me that there is a small hall in the top floor of the nearby Mall named Forum. So I went there and had my prayers.

While I was returning I was gazing into the various show rooms in the Mall. Thought of going into Landmark just to see some books. I straight away went to the "Religion" section and started to flip a book on Islam. Within few seconds a person came near me and started telling-

"You seem to be a religious person and I feel you have some sound knowledge of Islam"

I kept mute. Then he continued asking-

"Is reciting Vande Matharam against the tenets of Islam?"

I again kept mute thinking that I saw this question somewhere. Later I realized it was a poll question asked by the Times of India newspaper. By seeing my question-marked-face he stated to behave as if he did a big mistake by asking me that question. He made a guilty face and was about to leave from that place. I interrupted him by telling-

"I am not a mufti or a person who has a sound knowledge of Islam to give Fatwas. But with the limited knowledge I have about Islam I will try to answer your question with a small Hadeeth of prophet Muhammed"

I asked him- "Do you know what Hadeeth is?" to this he replied in affirmative. So I dint had to explain him what a Hadeeth is? (To know what Hadeeth is you can check this link)

So I continued with the Hadeeth saying-

"Once the companions of Prophet Muhammed asked Prophet Muhammed that 'suppose if we happen to pass by some unknown place and suppose if the people of that place make us captive and keep their swords on our neck and tell us to say so and so is our Lord which is other than Allah what should we do?' to this Prophet replied 'to save your life you can say whatever they ask you to say'. For this again the companions asked Prophet 'if they ask us to bow in front of their deity?' to this the Prophet replied 'No, one cannot bow in front of anything or anyone except Allah - the Almighty'"

This is the end of the Hadeeth. I told him -  "Hope you understood the answer to your question from this Hadeeth?" His face was giving me answers that he was doubtful. So I continued -

"Look, Vande Matharam means to 'Bow to Mother', so if someone threatens a Muslim with life and asks him to say Vande Matharam, he can say so. As I am saying it in front of you, without the intention of doing it. But if one has his free will to say or not to say then he should not say such sentence whose actions are against the tenets of Islam. And if someone says a Muslim to Bow in front of the Mother India he should not do so even if he gets killed."

After listening carefully, he thanked me saying - "Thanks for the wonderful explanation, now I know why actually you people stick to your principals. Thanks once again"

To this I told - "Your welcome brother. This isn’t the end. Since India is a Democratic country, we have our individual rights to say it or not. Nobody can force anyone in this country to SAY a particular sentence. Whether he is a Muslim or a Hindu or a Christian or even if he does not believe in God. And since India is also a Secular country these kinds of sentences cannot be issued as a Law to say in public. And one cannot say that a person is an Indian only if he recites so and so words in front of everyone. So making an issue out of nothing is also not good for anyone. Not even for our Mother India."

For this he smiled and we shook our hands we introduced ourselves and departed.

Blog Action Day: The Causes of Climatic Change and How to Stop it

TwitThis

I got impressed by the topic given by the BAD (Blog Action Day) organizers. I was just going through the blogger buzz yesterday and got this topic which was promoted by blogger. As I am keenly interested in the environment and its affects I was also interested to write a post on this particular topic. Till now I haven’t written any posts related to the environment as a whole but I was always worried about the climatic changes occurring recently.

We all do say that the reason behind all these climatic changes is the Global Warming. And obviously for global warming to happen we Humans are the main reason behind it. There are lots of articles been written on the causes of Global Warming and I do not want to touch all those topics. What I want to put the causes is bit different than those mentioned otherwise. My topic will reflect upon a verse from the Holy Qur’an which has lot many things to do with the climatic changes we see today. Now you may be thinking what the religion has to do with climatic changes? Well this is a big question only if you think religion as a personal belief. But to me religion is not just a personal belief but it is the system of life for every human being. I feel that his internal and external acts, all contribute to the environment where he lives.

Now for that let me start my topic quoting few of the verses from the Holy Qur’an:

[4:62] So how (will it be) when disaster strikes them because of what their hands have put forth and then they come to you swearing by Allah, "We intended nothing but good conduct and accommodation."

[3:165] When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, you say: "From where does this come to us?" Say (to them), "It is from yourselves (because of your evil deeds)." And Allah has power over all things.

Even the Quran says that whatever calamities come to us is because of our own hands. And to this all of us agree that the climatic changes have been occurred due to the humans themselves. It is obvious that man cut the trees, released poisonous gases into the environment and so and so. But there are other factors also which are not been noticed by us. They are the evil deeds done by the humans. To name few of the evil deeds, they are, murder, rape, oppression, genocide, homicide, suicide, molestation, adulteration etc etc. you may be wondering how these acts constitutes in climatic change. Well this is obvious from the Qur’anic verses but I want to elaborate with logic and reasoning.

This is my imagination and it may be wrong. But I can challenge that this theory cannot be disproved. It goes this way.

Whenever a girl is raped she will surely shout and scream. She will cry when she faces this kind of torture. What happens when she cries and shouts is that a kind of wave is generated. This can be any kind of wave. It can be a sound wave also. These waves strike certain objects and in turn these objects may generate a different kind of wave which mixes into the environment and causes some disturbance in the environment. These disturbances may lead to climatic changes as well.

This is just a small example I have given. This can be true for any kind of crime oppression and misdeeds. An oppressed one will be grieving and these grievances may generate any kind of wave to disturb the environment which we cannot experience. Even a person himself who has done wrong deeds in solitude may also generate such kind of waves. This is because he himself knows that he has done wrong thing and he thinks about it day and night to generate such kind of waves. If he repents sincerely unto God then this kind of waves may stop from generating.

Think about it. We have to stop these atrocities happing on human kind and stop the climatic changes by doing so. It is not that just the pollution is affecting the environment. Even the action we do also constitute in the climatic changes.

My readers it is time to repent and accept the wrong deeds which we are doing and stop them from happening. Keep your city clean and do not pollute your environment. In this way we not only keep our environment from pollution but also we can keep our society evil free.

Remember, one day we all have to die and are accountable in front of God. So stop the evil deeds and accept that there is no god except The God. Believe in Him and do righteous deeds, stop the oppressed one from getting oppressed, stop the oppressor from oppressing others. Convey the Truth as it is, to others so that even others follow what you are following. And teach others about patience and perseverance. Know that nobody in history has become popular by doing wrong acts.

There awaits great reward for those who do good deeds. And God also promises that there shall be no fear for those who do good deeds.

…for those of them who did good deeds and feared Allah, there is a great reward (3:182)

And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow... (2:25)

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve (2:62)

But they who believe and do righteous deeds - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. (2:82)

Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful. (2:160)

... and do fair deeds; surely Allah loves the fair-doers (2:195)

And many more...
